If shitty movies are a big dark cloud hovering over the entertainment landscape, then The Editing Room is that cloud’s silver lining. For the past 10 years (an eternity in Internet time), Rod Hilton has been celebrating Hollywood’s miserable excess with a series of “abridged scripts”; condensed movie summaries that brutally rip on every plothole, contrivance and terrible acting job without mercy.
It’s a simple enough idea, but the beauty is in the execution. For the most part, each scathing screenplay is right on target, reminding us all just how insulting typical Hollywood movies can be. Even better, reading each script makes you feel like you just saved 10 bucks on a ticket (as if there was ever a chance you were actually going to pay to see most of this garbage in the theater). Also, they’re fun to read while you’re at work.
The latest additions:
- Iron Man
- Sex and the City
- Juno
Congratulations to The Editing Room on 10 years of ripping awful movies a new asshole. Well done.

Thank you for reminding me of this outstanding website. I used to spend many a day reading his abridged scripts. This will be a valuable addition to my day and is another example of how wonderful the Internet is.
